Kates Kitchen

After 25 years trading between Market Street and Castle Street, Kate Pettit & Frank Hopper decided it was time to take a break - a well deserved one at that. Described as a “veritable treasury of gourmet delights” and that it was, Kate and Frank had created an amazing fine food shop that was known to one and all as Kate’s Kitchen.

In early 2008, I got the chance to take on a fantastic once in a life time opportunity by becoming the new owner. As a native of Sligo I was very familiar with the shop, but I knew that I was not superwoman and needed some help, so I approached my two sisters Beth & Jane and asked (begged) them if they would be interested in becoming involved with me.

No, we have no prior retail experience, but one year on and we are learning very fast and becoming knowledgeable “foodies” with expandable waistlines…..

Our shop is a great one with delicious products and so much of it produced locally. Kate and Frank have built up a great loyal customer base, but why not, when it has such fine food and a reputation for excellent customer service. We will put our own stamp on it in stages, but why fix something that is not broken.
